Amana washer repair

Amana Washing Machine Repair Click here for Amana Washing Machine Parts Appliance: Amana Washing Machine Problem: Washing machine leaking oil inside the tub; oil seems to have leaked out of the agitator Solution: The first thing to do is make sure this is really oil leaking. Frequently, there is a fabric softener buildup in the drum and it can look like oil on the clothes. If you use a pre-stain treatment and wash the clothes again, the stains will come out. If this is what happens, then the fabric softener is the problem. If the residue really is oil, then the problem is most likely a leaking transmission. This is a complicated repair and can be quite costly. You might want to weigh the option of purchasing a new washing machine.

Amana refrigerator repair

Amana Refrigerator Repair Click here for Amana Refrigerator Parts Appliance: Amana Refrigerator Problem: Water dispenser (located on the door) worked intermittently for a while, then stopped working altogether. After that, ice dispenser and ice maker stopped working also. No water in the trays. Solution: If the water dispenser is broken and the ice maker working, the water tank inside the Amana refrigerator section could be freezing up. Temperature should be checked to make sure that it is not set too low. If both the water dispenser and the ice maker have failed, either the water inlet valve could be the problem, or the water supply line to the Amana refrigerator itself might be restricted The water supply valve coming from your house may be restricted by water sediment. It is generally recommend replacing your water supply valve with a drill style saddle valve. You can get a much better water flow to the water inlet valve this way and your Amana refrigerator repair will be a success. Appliance: Amana Refrigerator, Model ATB1915HRQ Problem: Intermittent cooling problems and compressor making buzzing noise. Solution: Make sure that the condenser is clean. An intermittent problem is usually caused by the relay overload (part #12002794) on the compressor that's causing it to intermittently start. Especially if it runs a long time and the compressor gets hot, it takes a little more current draw sometimes to get it started. If the compressor trying to start, that tells you that the other controls are generally okay; the thermostat (part #61005790) is working properly and it's calling for refrigeration. These components are mounted to the outer shell of the compressor; they normally just plug on. There are three pins and a few wires. It's something that the average do-it-yourselfer, if they take their time and mark the wiring, etc., can accomplish. Appliance: Amana Bottom Mount Refrigerator, Model BX21TW Problem: Freezer is 0 degrees but not getting cold enough in the refrigerator section Solution: Normally if you open the door and depress the switches for the light and the fan you can hear the freezer fan (part #10513803) run. If you don't, then you either have a bad door switch (part #C3680310) or a fan motor, but most often you're not going to get zero degrees in the freezer if the fan is stalling or having problems. Usually when you have one section cooling the way it's supposed to and the other one not, is either a defrost system failure or the air diffuser in the refrigerator section that opens and closes to allow the cold air to be pushed in there is stuck closed. Normally, on your unit, if you open up the refrigerator door you should see a small white plastic box, with a little vent on it, and the air damper (part #R0161050) is the component behind that. It's got a little thermostat on it, a sensing bulb, and all it does is open up a little gate. If you see that it is stuck closed, until you can order a new one, you can take a small piece of cardboard or the like, and just wedge it in there until it's half-open. That will get you by until you can order a new control. You can close the freezer door and then depress the switches in your refrigerator section, one to make sure that the lights are going on and off, and see if the fan is running and see if you can feel any cold air coming out of that little vent. If not, and the fan is running in the freezer, then that little air damper is probably just stuck closed. So you're just starved for airflow in your refrigerator section, then the damper assembly is most often the culprit because the only thing in the airflow is that little gate, and it's thermostatically operated.

Amana range, stove and oven repair

Amana Range, Stove, Oven Repair Click here for Amana Range, Stove, Oven Parts Appliance: Amana Electric Range Problem: Electric range oven bake element not working when set to bake; when clock is set to 350 degrees, no lights come on in the oven, but when set to broil, the oven light does come on. Solution: The first thing to do is make sure that all the wiring to the control board is secure, that there are no burnt wires, and that the ribbon connector from the touch pad is securely tucked in. It is important to be sure that the connections are good. If all checks out then it is most likely a control board that is defective. Your decision on whether to change it depends on the age of the stove. These are not uncommon things to fail in your Amana range, stove or oven repair. Appliance: Amana Gas Range, Model AGS730W Problem: Broiler is not working Solution: The components in this circuit are the thermostat (part #Y0303055), which you set to broil and it is supposed to send power to the oven igniter, and the oven safety valve (part #Y0306429). From there, the oven is heated or the broiler is ignited by the oven igniter drawing a certain amount of current and getting very hot. Once it does, it allows the oven safety valve to open up. If you're not getting any glow whatsoever, the most common failing thing would be the igniter (part #31947201). The ceramic piece that's supposed to glow bright orange or red has failed. A lot of times, if it's not doing anything you can probably see a small crack in the igniter. The other thing that can cause that would be the oven safety valve could have a bad circuit for the broil portion of it and/or the oven thermostat is not sending a signal to those components to turn on the oven when you set it to broil. You will need to get a flashlight and open up the oven door and look towards the back wall where the burner tube (part #Y0063709) goes into the back wall and you'll see the igniter mounted to the burner itself. There are usually a few screws and a few wires connecting it. Of course, you want to unplug the unit and you can take that igniter out. Most often the igniter is the culprit.

Amana microwave repair

Amana Microwave Repair Click here for Amana Microwave Parts Appliance: Amana Microwave Problem: The carousel on the microwave will not move Solution: The carousel of a microwave unit is usually driven by a small motor, but this motor has nothing to do with the heating function of the microwave. To repair your unit, you need to open the microwave cabinet. It is recommended that you seek the assistance from a qualified appliance technician to fix this Amana microwave repair problem. The technician should also inspect the plastic drive coupling that the tray sits on, as well as the ring-and-roller assembly, to make sure that they are all working properly.

Amana Dryer repair

Amana Dryer Repair Click here for Amana Dryer Parts Appliance: Amana Gas Dryer Problem: Gas dryer runs with no heat Solution: Most of the time a no heat condition in a gas dryer, it can be one of three to four components gone bad. The first thing you should do is inspect your vent. Make sure that it is clear of lint, not folded up behind the dryer, and is as short as possible to the outside. Most common is the igniter or the gas coils on the gas valve assembly. The coils are electrical solenoids that open the gas valve and allow gas to flow through. The igniter can be tested for continuity with a multimeter. If it has no continuity or you can physically see a crack or break in the igniter then it will need to be replaced. There is also a flame sensor that's in that circuit, as well as, a thermostat for sensing the heat. Some dryers have a high limit thermostat which is a onetime fuse that basically works this way: if your dryer overheats it will shut off either the whole dryer depending on how it is wired or only the heating portion of it. If you call a technician to take a look at your Amana dryer repair, they might tell you that other parts of the dryer like a belt or idler pulley are wearing out. It is a good idea to have an entire dryer tune up done if you are going to pay one service call. 808-295-6032 Goodwin Appliance Repair

Amana dishwasher repair

Amana Dishwasher Repair Click here for Amana Dishwasher Parts Appliance: Amana Dishwasher Problem: Proper procedure for the removal of old and installation of new dishwasher. Solution: Turn off the power supply to the dishwasher and the water supply valve. Then disconnect the water fill hose and the drain line to the sink or garbage disposal. Depending on the floor, you might have a problem - the drain comes up from the floor in one portion of the dishwasher, but the new one may not match up. And because of the way the new dishwasher is made, you may not be able to route the drain underneath and get it to where it needs to be. The best thing to do on this occasion is to install a flexible, braided water line (part #5305516519). You can route this water line in a lot of different ways. Most of the time, the dishwasher is held into the top of the cabinet with a few screws. Remove these screws and screw in the front leveling legs. Carefully remove the dishwasher from the cabinet. The new dishwasher can now be installed the same way. It is important to level or slightly tilt back your dishwasher. If you have a wood floor, there is a floor mat that you can put underneath the dishwasher. This floor mat surrounds the underside of the dishwasher and then filters the water out to the front. If you develop a small leak, you'll see a bit of water on the floor in front of the dishwasher and be alerted before any major damage is done. Goodwin Appliance Repair 808-295-6032

Appliance Tips 808-295-6032 Goodwin Appliance Repair

Washing Machine Dryer Range Refrigerator Dishwasher Garbage Disposal Icemaker Microwave Range Vent Hood Dehumidifier Air Conditioner Humidifier Trash Compactor Freezer Hot Water Dispenser Water Filter Washing Machine Leveling Your washer spins so fast that when it is not level, it can vibrate excessively during the spin cycle. If your washing machine is not perfectly level (with all four legs touching the floor), it can bang around and rock back and forth. The machine can also "walk" across the room. This can be detrimental to the machine if action is not taken to correct it. Many washing machines have adjustable leveling legs. You can adjust the leg to the proper height, and then tighten the lock nut up against the body of the machine to keep the leg from moving. Some machines may have rear self-adjusting leveling legs. Keep the machine as close to the floor as possible. The lower it is, the less likely it is to vibrate. You can set these legs by tilting the entire machine forward onto its front legs (with the rear legs 3 to 4 inches off the floor) and then setting the machine back down. The legs should adjust automatically. If they do not, you may need to tilt the machine forward and tap on the rear legs with the handle of a hammer to loosen them. The lower the machine is to the floor, the lower the center of gravity of the machine, resulting in less vibration. To reduce vibration even more consider using Shake Away Pads. These pads are engineered to absorb the vibration transferred from the machine to the floor. Cleaning out/Removing objectionable odors Once a month you should run a cycle of hot water with 2 cups of chlorine bleach through your washer. At the beginning of the wash cycle, add the bleach directly to the washtub and not through the bleach dispenser. This routine maintenance will help remove any soap deposits and will also help keep germs from accumulating in the airtight parts of the washer. Some newer machines have a 'clean' cycle. Follow the manufacturers recommended instructions regarding this cycle. For front load machines, use Affresh to clean out the interior of the washer. Water fill hoses It is good preventative maintenance to check the washing machine hoses from time to time for wear and/or weakness. As the hoses age, they lose resiliency and may develop small blisters which could burst. A broken hose can cause a lot of damage to your home. Replace the hoses if there are any signs of wear. Most manufacturers recommend replacing the hoses every 5 years. For more peace of mind, one alternative is to use high quality stainless steel hoses. Return to Top Dryer Venting Air flow is the most important factor of a dryer's operation. Your dryer venting should be made of metal, preferably straight walled venting rather than flexible venting. Several years ago, the white vinyl duct that was commonly used in dryers no longer meets building codes. Vinyl ducts are more likely to contain a vent fire versus a metal vent. Check the dryer vent if you experience longer than expected drying times. Restricted venting will cause air flow problems and fires. Check the entire length of the vent pipe for lint build-up at least once a year or more often if the dryer gets a lot of use. Remove any lint from the duct using a vent brush. Do not push the lint back into the dryer or let it clog any part of the vent. By cleaning your dryer vent, drying time will improve and energy consumption increases since the dryer is not running as long to dry the clothes. Care and cleaning lint filter Check and clean the lint filter after every drying cycle. Replace the lint filter if it has any rips or tears in it. If the filter gets clogged with fabric softener residue, you can easily clean it with a soft-bristle brush and a little detergent. We also recommend cleaning the area that the lint filter fits into. If necessary, use a vacuum cleaner to reach into the duct and clean out any lint. Cleaning the interior of the cabinet The lint produced by clothes tumbling in a dryer is normally trapped by the lint filter. However, some lint will escape the filter and accumulate on the inside of the dryer cabinet. At least once a year, remove and check the inside of the cabinet, and clean it as needed. Do this more frequently if the dryer gets a lot of use. Return to Top Range Drip pans/bowls Over time, the burner drip pans/bowls may become stained. Once stained, it is usually not possible to clean them completely. It may be necessary to replace the drip pans every two to three years. Cook top care You can clean any porcelain cook top with a non-abrasive cleaner. Do not pour the cleaner directly onto the cook top. Instead, put some cleaner on a soft, damp rag, and then wipe the surface. For glass and ceramic cook tops, always use products made for this purpose. We recommend Ceramatop. It is safe and effective and cleans without scratching the cooking surface. Door seal The oven's heat can escape if the door is not sealed properly. You can verify that the oven door has a tight seal by opening the oven door and locating the door seal around the perimeter of the door. Check for any broken, torn, or deformed areas on the seal. Close the door and see if you can detect any heat escaping. If necessary, replace the door seal. Anti-tip device Your range should be equipped with an anti-tip device. This is a bracket that is essential to the safe operation of the range. The device provides protection when excess force or weight is applied to an open oven door. The bracket is secured to the bottom of the wall behind the range using a couple of screws or a chain that is hooked to the rear of the unit then to the wall directly behind it. Return to Top Refrigerator Clean condenser coils Dusty condenser coils cause a refrigerator to work harder; which results in increased energy bills and a shorter life expectancy for the refrigerator. To prevent this from happening, use a vacuum or condenser brush to remove dust build up from the coils twice a year, every three months if shedding pets are present in the home. Depending on the model that you own, the coils will either be located behind, underneath, or on top of the refrigerator. To access coils located underneath, remove the grill at the bottom front of the refrigerator. To access coils located behind, pull the unit out from the wall and remove the cover. To access coils on top, the large decorative panel above the unit will have to be removed. Door gaskets The gaskets on the refrigerator and freezer doors are designed to seal the cool air in and to keep the warm air out. This is vital to the efficiency of your refrigerator. Regularly clean the gasket with hot soapy water and wipe it dry. It is important to make sure that the gasket is as strong as it should be. Wipe up any spills inside the refrigerator immediately as some liquids, once dried on the outer frame, will act like glue and will cause the gasket to tear as the door is opened. Periodically, check the gasket to see if there are any areas that are cracked or otherwise damaged. Water filter If your refrigerator has an ice maker and/or a water dispenser, it will likely have a water filter that needs to be replaced on a regular basis. Replace your filter every six to twelve months or as recommended by the owner's manual. Some refrigerators will have a reminder light that illuminates when it is time to change the filter. To reset this light, use the general instructions below related to some of the more common units in the field. Amana: Press and hold the auto and dispenser lock buttons until the water filter status indicator light flashes. Frigidaire: Press and hold the reset button until the indicator light flashes. GE and Hotpoint: Press and hold the reset button for eight seconds. Jenn Air: Press and hold the light and lock buttons until the water filter light flashes. Kitchen Aid: Press and release the light button five times quickly. Maytag: Press and hold the light and lock buttons until the water filter light flashes. Samsung: Press and hold the ice type and child lock buttons at the same time for three seconds. Whirlpool: Press and release the light button five times quickly. Return to Top Dishwasher Dishracks The plastic coating on your dish rack may wear off resulting in corrosion and rust. You can cap the damaged rack tines with slip-on rubber tips and touch up any metal showing with a liquid rubber type material. For best results, remove any rust present on the racks with sandpaper or a sanding block before applying the repair material. Repair kits are available in white and light blue. Cleaning Over time, the small holes in the spray arm(s) of your dishwasher may become clogged with toothpicks, glass, paper, hard water scale, etc. Your dishwasher will perform better if you clean out the small holes from time to time. It is a good idea to clean out any hard water and/or soap deposits in the wash system, tank, and pump system. To do this, run hot water at the tap. Put the empty dishwasher into the regular wash cycle. Wait until the machine has filled with water and begins to circulate the water. At this time, add your cleaning product (white vinegar or Glisten) directly into the bottom of the dishwasher. Allow the machine to run the entire wash cycle. For best results, reset or advance the dishwasher to run again in the wash cycle without draining the treated water. We recommend performing this maintenance once or twice a year. Filter On many dishwashers, there is a filter near the bottom or under the lower spray arm that needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. Consult your owner's manual to find out how to remove and clean it. If the filter has holes in it, replace it to protect the pump and motor seals from particles that may be in the dishwasher. Return to Top Garbage Disposal Care and cleaning Maintaining a clean garbage disposal will help to keep it smelling fresh and odor free. To improve performance and prolong the life of the disposer, we recommend cleaning it every few months with Disposer Care. To prevent stoppages, remember to run water during use in order to move the waste all the way through the drain lines. Return to Top Icemaker Odors Even though your water supply provides healthy, potable water to your ice maker, some impurities may remain. These can affect the smell or taste of the ice cubes, and therefore the beverages in which you serve them. A taste and odor water filter on the incoming water-supply line can help a lot if your refrigerator does not have a filter incorporated into the icemaker or dispenser. Ice bin To help keep your ice tasting its best, empty out the ice and wash the ice bin every 2 to 3 months. Also try to keep the foods in your refrigerator covered, because the ice cubes absorb many odors and tastes. Water filter Replace your water filter every four to six months. Change it sooner if you start noticing a bad taste or odors. Return to Top Microwave Cleaning Clean the inside of your microwave frequently. Food particles and splatters absorb some of the microwave energy while the unit is operating and may cause burns and other damage to the microwave. You can clean the interior with a microwave oven cleaner or an all-purpose cleaner. Running empty Never operate a microwave oven without food or liquid inside it. Microwave ovens heat the food or liquid in the oven with super high frequency microwave sound energy. If there is no food or liquid in the oven to absorb the microwave energy, the energy can feed back to the microwave itself, which can permanently damage the magnetron and other internal components. Door Your microwave oven door keeps the microwave energy inside where it belongs. If the door is in any way damaged or if the door seal does not seem to fit correctly or be in good repair, have the microwave checked by a qualified appliance repair technician. Return to Top Range Vent Hood Filters Clean the metal mesh filters often. The thin, silvery screen is the grease filter (there may be more than one). The filter traps airborne oils and grease to keep them out of the blower and exhaust vent. To clean the filter, remove it and soak it in a degreasing solution until the grease is dissolved. Next, wash it with warm, soapy water to remove any traces of the degreaser. Then put it in the upper rack of the dishwasher and run it through a normal cycle. Most charcoal filters cannot be cleaned and replacement may be necessary. Light Bulb Use the manufacturers suggested replacement light bulb to avoid damaging the light lens cover and/or other components in the microwave. Blower wheel Over time, the blower wheel gets greasy and dirty, which can slow down the fan or cause vibration. Remove the wheel and clean it with a degreaser. Then, if the fan is still slow or if it vibrates, you will need to replace the fan motor. Interior Clean the interior of the vent hood with a standard household degreaser/cleaner. Be sure the unit is turned off before you clean it. Also avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the light bulb or light bulb socket. Return to Top Dehumidifier Filters Many dehumidifiers utilize a simple, electrostatic filter located in the front grill. The filter allows the air to pass through. We recommend replacing the filter at least once a year. Also, clean the dehumidifier every year before putting it into operation. Pictures Water container You need to clean the container that catches the water from the evaporator coils from time to time. How often depends on how much you use it. Check the condition of this container monthly until you learn whether your unit needs frequent cleaning. Coils frosting up Running the dehumidifier in ambient temperatures below 65 degrees is not recommended. At times, putting the unit on a table and off of the basement floor may help. If temperatures below 65 degrees cannot be avoided, a de-icing kit may be available for the unit. Return to Top Air Conditioner Condensing coils The condensing coils on an air conditioner will get very dirty over time. However, the dirt tends to accumulate on the inside of the coils, out of sight. It will be necessary to remove the entire cover of the air conditioner to gain access to the coils. They can be cleaned by blowing compressed air through them or by using a soft bristle brush to wipe the dirt off. It is important to also clean any dirt or lint build-up in the bottom of the air conditioner so the condensate water will be picked up by the condensing fan slinger properly.Pictures Filter Air conditioners are outfitted with a filter in the front grill area to filter the air that passes through them. If your unit has a filter you should replace/clean it once a month during the cooling season. Frost on coils If the outdoor temperature becomes too cool, approximately 60 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, check the coils on the front of the air conditioner to be sure they are not icing up. If ice has accumulated, turn the air conditioner off until the temperature rises. This usually is caused from running the air conditioner overnight. Return to Top Humidifier Cleaning Over time, the water reservoir on reservoir-type humidifiers becomes encrusted with calcium and other mineral build-up. It may also begin to harbor bacteria. Use a humidifier cleaner and anti-bacterial solution to clean the reservoir completely at the start of the heating season and again at the end of the season. You need to clean your humidifier at the end of every season because it builds up scale, rust, and hard water marks as it operates. You can disassemble it for cleaning. Consult your owner's manual to learn the proper technique for disassembling your unit. Filter Replace the humidifier pad or filter every year. Return to Top Trash Compactor Cleaning You need to thoroughly clean the interior of your trash compactor on a regular basis. We recommend that you use a bacteria-fighting cleaner and/or degreaser to clean the ram (the platform that presses down on the garbage) and any other part of the compactor that comes into contact with the garbage. Bacteria can grow on the inside of your trash compactor. For temporary odor control between cleanings, use a deodorizer on the interior of the compactor. Return to Top Freezer Door gasket The gasket on the freezer door is designed to seal the cool air in and to keep the warm air out. This is vital to the efficiency of the unit. Regularly clean the gasket with hot soapy water and wipe it dry. It is important to make sure that the gasket is as strong as it should be. Wipe up any spills inside the freezer immediately as some liquids, once dried on the outer frame, will act like glue and will cause the gasket to tear as the door is opened. Periodically, check the gasket to see if there are any areas that are cracked or otherwise damaged. Cleaning coils Self-defrosting freezers have a set of coils and a cooling fan under the freezer that need to be cleaned at least once a year. The coils may look like a grate or like a wide radiator. Unplug the freezer, and use a condenser brush to remove any lint and debris from the coils. Drain pan It is not necessary to manually defrost your self-defrosting freezer. Instead, every 8 to 12 hours, the unit will heat up its cooling coils slightly and melt any frost accumulation on the coils. The resulting water will drain into a shallow pan located at the bottom of the freezer. You do not need to empty the pan because the water in it will evaporate. But, over time, it may begin to develop a foul odor. You may be able to remove the pan for periodic cleaning by detaching the lower grill and sliding the pan out the front of the freezer. Note... When mold grows in the drain pain, it is sometimes considered to be a health concern. If your drain pan is removable, and if you are sensitive to mold consider cleaning the drain pan periodically. Return to Top Hot Water Dispenser Hot-water dispensers will continue to function without any sort of routine maintenance. If you are having a problem with your unit, consult your owner's manual. Return to Top Water Filter Cartridge-type filters Replacing your cartridge-type water filter one to two times a year will ensure that your water filter is filtering the highest level of impurities from the water. We recommend thoroughly cleaning the canister that houses the cartridge when you replace the cartridge. Also, clean and lubricate the o-ring with food-grade silicone grease or a comparable lubricant. Self-contained filters Self-contained water filters (a filter without a removable cartridge) have a useful life of six months to one year. After this period, replace the filter. Return to Top

Kenmore Elite H3t frontload washing macine (door will not open)

Goodwin Appliance Repair

Customer calls today in a panic.  My washing machine's door will not open.  He has a Kenmore Elite H3t frontload washing machine.  He said when  he was washing his rugs it stopped halfway through the cycle.  His panic was from reading horror stories on the internet.  He said if it cost to much I will go to Sears and buy a new one today.  I comforted him by letting him know this is a common problem and no it is not a bad machine it can't finish the cycle, therefore the door will not open.

So as I am going to the job I know it is two things, either a bad pump or a clogged pump.

Now the fun part. Three screws will remove the panel in the front bottom below the door the screws are on the bottom.

Now what I am holding is the cap to the coin trap.  The pump is on the right in the picture.

*Hint have your shop vaccum ready because there will be several gallons of water that need to be sucked up.

Turn the cap slowly untill water starts to trickle out.  Suck it all up before you open it any further, to save yourself from a big mess.

Once the water is all sucked up unscrew that cap and pull it out.  This is the exciting part like checking your christmas stocking.

Wow, looks like I found the problem clogged drain.  That is why the door wouldn't open the water couldn't get to the pump.

After seeing this I asked how log have you owned this washer.  He said 5 years.  As you can see its quite a savings they have going there possibly enough to get a big mac.  The new addition was the foam.  That is from the rugs with the rubber backing.  So now we know not to wash rubber backing rugs in your washing machine.. Oh and don't for get empty your pockets.

Finally after cleaning and reinstalling the coin catch the cycle continued and the door was unlocked.
I hope you enjoyed this blog and I will continue to post tips and trick to maintaining and repairing all your major household appliances.

Aloha from hawaii!

before anything else check my links above to see my location and read my wonderful reviews.  This post is for you handymen or women that seem to be stumped on why your washing machine is not draining or spinning.  Now the easiest solution is to call an appliance repairman.  And the price could range from $100-$200 to fix your problem.  Now here is the fun part I can save you money.  If you know the problem before you call the appliance repair man he is likely going to service you at the $100 range because he knows you know the repair is simple.  Now lets make sure we are prepared to save money before we call.  Does the washing machine fill with water.  If the answer is yes lets continue.  Now will the top load washer spin? If the answer is no you are at the right place and you are reading the right blog.  Now is the washer smoking is the final question you should ask yourself. If it is no I have the simple solution for you.  It is either the LID SAFETY SWITCH or the MOTOR COUPLER.  Now call your local appliance repairman and tell him on the phone hey I would fix it my self but I'm short on time I know its either the lid safety switch or motor coupler.  Bam I just saved you $100 bucks have a great day and make sure to follow me for future tips.
