Amana Washing Machine
Problem:
Washing machine leaking oil inside the tub; oil seems to have leaked out of the agitator
Solution:
The first thing to do is make sure this is really oil leaking.
Frequently, there is a fabric softener buildup in the drum and it can look like oil on the clothes. If you use a pre-stain treatment and wash the clothes again, the stains will come out. If this is what happens, then the fabric softener is the problem.
If the residue really is oil, then the problem is most likely a leaking transmission. This is a complicated repair and can be quite costly. You might want to weigh the option of purchasing a new washing machine.

Amana Refrigerator
Problem:
Water dispenser (located on the door) worked intermittently for a while, then stopped working altogether. After that, ice dispenser and ice maker stopped working also. No water in the trays.
Solution:
If the water dispenser is broken and the ice maker working, the water tank inside the Amana refrigerator section could be freezing up. Temperature should be checked to make sure that it is not set too low.
If both the water dispenser and the ice maker have failed, either the water inlet valve could be the problem, or the water supply line to the Amana refrigerator itself might be restricted
The water supply valve coming from your house may be restricted by water sediment. It is generally recommend replacing your water supply valve with a drill style saddle valve. You can get a much better water flow to the water inlet valve this way and your Amana refrigerator repair will be a success.
Appliance:
Amana Refrigerator, Model ATB1915HRQ
Problem:
Intermittent cooling problems and compressor making buzzing noise.
Solution:
Make sure that the condenser is clean. An intermittent problem is usually caused by the relay overload (part #12002794) on the compressor that's causing it to intermittently start. Especially if it runs a long time and the compressor gets hot, it takes a little more current draw sometimes to get it started. If the compressor trying to start, that tells you that the other controls are generally okay; the thermostat (part #61005790) is working properly and it's calling for refrigeration.
These components are mounted to the outer shell of the compressor; they normally just plug on. There are three pins and a few wires. It's something that the average do-it-yourselfer, if they take their time and mark the wiring, etc., can accomplish.
Appliance:
Amana Bottom Mount Refrigerator, Model BX21TW
Problem:
Freezer is 0 degrees but not getting cold enough in the refrigerator section
Solution:
Normally if you open the door and depress the switches for the light and the fan you can hear the freezer fan (part #10513803) run. If you don't, then you either have a bad door switch (part #C3680310) or a fan motor, but most often you're not going to get zero degrees in the freezer if the fan is stalling or having problems. Usually when you have one section cooling the way it's supposed to and the other one not, is either a defrost system failure or the air diffuser in the refrigerator section that opens and closes to allow the cold air to be pushed in there is stuck closed.
Normally, on your unit, if you open up the refrigerator door you should see a small white plastic box, with a little vent on it, and the air damper (part #R0161050) is the component behind that. It's got a little thermostat on it, a sensing bulb, and all it does is open up a little gate. If you see that it is stuck closed, until you can order a new one, you can take a small piece of cardboard or the like, and just wedge it in there until it's half-open. That will get you by until you can order a new control.
You can close the freezer door and then depress the switches in your refrigerator section, one to make sure that the lights are going on and off, and see if the fan is running and see if you can feel any cold air coming out of that little vent. If not, and the fan is running in the freezer, then that little air damper is probably just stuck closed.
So you're just starved for airflow in your refrigerator section, then the damper assembly is most often the culprit because the only thing in the airflow is that little gate, and it's thermostatically operated.

Appliance:
Amana Electric Range
Problem:
Electric range oven bake element not working when set to bake; when clock is set to 350 degrees, no lights come on in the oven, but when set to broil, the oven light does come on.
Solution:
The first thing to do is make sure that all the wiring to the control board is secure, that there are no burnt wires, and that the ribbon connector from the touch pad is securely tucked in. It is important to be sure that the connections are good.
If all checks out then it is most likely a control board that is defective. Your decision on whether to change it depends on the age of the stove. These are not uncommon things to fail in your Amana range, stove or oven repair.
Appliance:
Amana Gas Range, Model AGS730W
Problem:
Broiler is not working
Solution:
The components in this circuit are the thermostat (part #Y0303055), which you set to broil and it is supposed to send power to the oven igniter, and the oven safety valve (part #Y0306429). From there, the oven is heated or the broiler is ignited by the oven igniter drawing a certain amount of current and getting very hot. Once it does, it allows the oven safety valve to open up. If you're not getting any glow whatsoever, the most common failing thing would be the igniter (part #31947201). The ceramic piece that's supposed to glow bright orange or red has failed. A lot of times, if it's not doing anything you can probably see a small crack in the igniter. The other thing that can cause that would be the oven safety valve could have a bad circuit for the broil portion of it and/or the oven thermostat is not sending a signal to those components to turn on the oven when you set it to broil.
You will need to get a flashlight and open up the oven door and look towards the back wall where the burner tube (part #Y0063709) goes into the back wall and you'll see the igniter mounted to the burner itself. There are usually a few screws and a few wires connecting it. Of course, you want to unplug the unit and you can take that igniter out. Most often the igniter is the culprit.

Amana Microwave
Problem:
The carousel on the microwave will not move
Solution:
The carousel of a microwave unit is usually driven by a small motor, but this motor has nothing to do with the heating function of the microwave.
To repair your unit, you need to open the microwave cabinet.
It is recommended that you seek the assistance from a qualified appliance technician to fix this Amana microwave repair problem. The technician should also inspect the plastic drive coupling that the tray sits on, as well as the ring-and-roller assembly, to make sure that they are all working properly.

Appliance:
Amana Gas Dryer
Problem:
Gas dryer runs with no heat
Solution:
Most of the time a no heat condition in a gas dryer, it can be one of three to four components gone bad.
The first thing you should do is inspect your vent. Make sure that it is clear of lint, not folded up behind the dryer, and is as short as possible to the outside.
Most common is the igniter or the gas coils on the gas valve assembly. The coils are electrical solenoids that open the gas valve and allow gas to flow through. The igniter can be tested for continuity with a multimeter. If it has no continuity or you can physically see a crack or break in the igniter then it will need to be replaced.
There is also a flame sensor that's in that circuit, as well as, a thermostat for sensing the heat. Some dryers have a high limit thermostat which is a onetime fuse that basically works this way: if your dryer overheats it will shut off either the whole dryer depending on how it is wired or only the heating portion of it.
If you call a technician to take a look at your Amana dryer repair, they might tell you that other parts of the dryer like a belt or idler pulley are wearing out. It is a good idea to have an entire dryer tune up done if you are going to pay one service call.

Amana Dishwasher
Problem:
Proper procedure for the removal of old and installation of new dishwasher.
Solution:
Turn off the power supply to the dishwasher and the water supply valve. Then disconnect the water fill hose and the drain line to the sink or garbage disposal.
Depending on the floor, you might have a problem - the drain comes up from the floor in one portion of the dishwasher, but the new one may not match up. And because of the way the new dishwasher is made, you may not be able to route the drain underneath and get it to where it needs to be. The best thing to do on this occasion is to install a flexible, braided water line (part #5305516519). You can route this water line in a lot of different ways.
Most of the time, the dishwasher is held into the top of the cabinet with a few screws. Remove these screws and screw in the front leveling legs. Carefully remove the dishwasher from the cabinet. The new dishwasher can now be installed the same way.
It is important to level or slightly tilt back your dishwasher. If you have a wood floor, there is a floor mat that you can put underneath the dishwasher. This floor mat surrounds the underside of the dishwasher and then filters the water out to the front. If you develop a small leak, you'll see a bit of water on the floor in front of the dishwasher and be alerted before any major damage is done.
